Shield

The HOPLON shield is a protective device developed with the help of healthcare professionals to cater to individuals with mental disabilities during behavioral crises. It is used when verbal de-escalation attempts have failed.

The shield allows caregivers to protect themselves from aggressive actions while maintaining visual contact with the patient, ensuring they do not hurt themselves.

Modular and covering a large surface area, the shield can be used to partition spaces, thereby immediately securing a group of individuals from a person in a state of agitation. It facilitates de-escalation before considering, if necessary, more invasive interventions under calmer conditions. When needed, the HOPLON shield can also be used as support for horizontal physical restraints, which are perceived as less restrictive and more comfortable.
